Is there someone out there that can code with only paper and pencil?
It might be hard for them to run the program, but do they exist?
What level of tooling is sufficient for them to do their job?
A laptop and IDE comes to mind. At this point they should be able to write programs and run them locally for the tribe to enjoy, right?
They should surely know everything about the language. All the tips and tricks, because heaven forbid if they get stumped somewhere...
But that is where "the docs" come in, right?
So we have to make sure that they have the official docs available on the laptop. That would solve a lot of issues...
I would think that would be cause for great celebration around the campfire. They did not even touch a plugin, or load a dependency. And they pulled it off without any internet. It's like magic...
So let's affirm that that is the needed kit. We'll pop in some solar for the heck of it. All set.
Someone else enters the room. Not a coder. They have the same hardware, but their software is a bit different.
This person has the sota small language coding model. We will hope and assume that they have improved a bit since 2024. Not an unreasonable assumption...
They start speaking into the device and popping up games and apps like nobody's business. In fact, they are hosting parties where the local tribespeople are having a go at it themselves. It surely helped that translation has been soundly defeated by these artificial brains.
Those parties are a riot. Everybody is having a lot of fun. Including the coder who now uses their laptop to stream whatever they downloaded inbetween coding sessions, for regular movie nights.
The end.
