Ask HN: How do you use your work computer in times of Crowdsrtrike?

I am joining a new company soon and they are deploying Crowdstrike monitoring! I am used to smaller companies, and always used my work computer for “private” stuff too (coding, photos etc).

Now when joining this new company, should I buy myself a private computer and don’t touch private files and accounts on the work issued laptop?

Yes. You should never have been using work infrastructure (be it machines, network, whatever) for personal stuff, nor personal infrastructure for work stuff, regardless of monitoring. Keep the two forever separate. Keeping them separate protects both you and your employer.

Do not ever mix the two, even when you are not being monitored.

      This!

Keep your stuff on your machine and work stuff on theirs
